Bark Cloth March Madness (or just Barking Mad)

I'm feeling very smug today.  I've made my March make for the Felt Fairy Makey Thingy ALREADY.  How good am I?

Remember the bark cloth curtains I picked up from a charity shop?  Well here they are again just to remind you of their gorgeousness:

They have been transformed by little old moi into............two cushion covers.

One on its lonesome

Snuggling with the other cushions on the sofa (most of which are made by my good self)

Now, I know that I made cushion covers for my February and January makes.  But before you say to yourselves, "Can't that woman make anything other than cushion covers?"   The answer is, dear readers, YES I CAN!  Get a load of my barkcloth scarf.

I've backed it with a black woollen scarf that I've never worn and which still had its tags on.

Here's one of me modelling it:

Somebody, somewhere in Blogland had such a scarf (sorry, dunno who; if it was you, do let me know) and when I saw it I knew I had to shamelessly copy.

Just imagine, I can now sit on the sofa, luxuriating with my barkcloth cushions and wearing a matching barkcloth scarf.  How fabulous is that!

What a shame*/luckily* (*delete as appropriate) no-one is around to take a photo of me luxuriating.  Instead, I'll leave you with a pic of my scarf draped seductively on the sofa.  Enjoy!!!!!

  1. Hey Loo
I LOVE those cushions! And I think they would go very nicely with the orange/yellow/brown crocheted cushion in your bedroom x

  3. Great use of the barkcloth! I shall be cutting up more of mine this weekend. It's a crime to leave it festering in the fabric pile, it needs to be stroked and admired. xxx

  6. Ooh I love the last photo! And I'm well impressed with cushion covers - it's more than I've ever attempted!

Not to be all doomladen or anything but making clothes from patterns terrifies me :( I don't have the sort of brain that understands how these things work and I just get so frustrated and give up. Hope you have better luck than I do!

  13. Your couch looks like mine, more cushions than seating area! It's fab though and I love that you made them. You are the only woman I know with a matching scarf/cushion combo, I bet you won't see that in a giftset this Christmas! Love it!

  14. When I saw your scarf I originally thought it was one of those camera strap covers that some bloggers have made. A scarf if more useable I would think. Great pillows too. I love barkcloth!

  15. Hi lovely Loo,

There's not much in the world that's nicer than a sofa filled with lovely cushions. Perfect to sink down into after a hard day's work with a magazine and a hot chocolate. Aaaaaaahh.

All the better if your scarf matches your cushions!!

  16. I have several curtains that have damage to them-- I should cut them up and make cushions too! OR a scarf, I love the idea of matching a scarf to your cushions, amazing.
