Wallpaper Whimsy Part 2

Ages ago here, I droned on about this roll of wallpaper:

Isn't it gorgeous? A mere £1.50 in a charity shop. I decided it was "the one".

The plan was to wallpaper our downstairs loo with it.

Allelujah! I've finally done it!

My handy tip to you all is to remember to allow for the repeat in the pattern. I started off allowing for the repeat but soon forgot and ended up with two strips which were too short for the wall. Mmmmm, quel un idiot..................Remember, dear readers, only having ONE roll of wallpaper means there is no margin for error.  Fortunately, I had a teeny amount left over with which I managed to cut into shape and stick down in the relevant places. There's nothing quite like a botched job I find.

But I'm not lingering on the botched bits because they're really not that obvious and, luckily, the too-big-for-the-room-but-who-cares IKEA light does a very good job of distracting the eye. Non?

Before I go, Mr J and P emailed me a link to this William Shatner vid on YouTube with a note saying it's "unfathomably weird". By jingo, Mr J and P is actually right.  Bear with it, it's truly bonkers (especially around the 3 mins 18 secs mark).

Enjoy......xx

  2. Love the wallpaper, it looks fab and that shade is so right with it. In fact it brings back memories of my old kitchen/diner. I swear the paper we had was almost identical! Wot is William Shatner on...I definitely don't want any!!

  5. The wallpaper is a real statement - gorgeous! It goes very well with the lampshade - all very retro! Thanks for the video. What's he been smoking? I reckon they could use it to help deliver an anti-drugs message...

  6. It looks BRILLIANT!! A loo to be proud of! Loving the 'who-cares' ethos too :) I know what you mean about having no room for error - I felt a bit like that making my vintage curtain dress last week! Nothing like a bit of pressure eh?

  7. There's a family guy version of this and I thought their version was an exaggeration but in fact the original is so much more mental.
I love the wallpaper! It's amazing! Looks pretty good from the photos!

  10. That William video is utterly bizarre!!

But your downstairs loo looks fab - and you're totally underselling the light - I bet there are a million fancy-shmancy designers who would use a too-big light on purpose!!

  19. It looks fab! I admire your for doing it and knowing you only had one roll to play with. Living dangerously or what!
The light is great too, it all looks really very retro. I wish you lived near to me as you would have a field day in my garage with all my mum's stuff.
    Happy Monday!

  20. I'm having a flashback to when I found some fab wallpaper at the dollar store, then did my bedroom wall BY MYSELF. Your bathroom looks amazing - hope it wasn't as traumatic as my experience!

P.S.: William Shatner. For all his cheesiness, I think he's great.

  21. Gert lush wallpaper that and it suits your WC a treat. You'll be able to sit on the throne and appreciate your handiwork! As for Shatner, either he's smoking some hardcore weed or just trying to 'get down' with the kids! I reckon its the latter!
