Bang Bang Crash

It's hellish here at J and P Towers.  We've got the builders in and it's week 3 of raging chaos, dust, grit and no proper kitchen, lounge or downstairs loo.  What's more, they're still going strong!

The sad ruins of our kitchen:

We've got rising damp, caused by a defective damp course. It's one of those annoying things where you really don't have anything to show for all the banging, crashing and chaos not to mention all the dosh we're having to throw at it *gulp* .  Apart from a new kitchen worktop which looks very similar to the old one, only in black, and new kitchen tiles.

We can't find a thing because everything is where it shouldn't be:

The downstairs loo without the loo:

That's because it's in the garden.  Of course!

There's even a bloody cement mixer parked in our beloved dining room which Mr J and P has a habit of colliding with, turning the already dusty air blue with his swearing.

Never have I been so happy to be going to work.  Particularly as now our next door neighbours have got the builders in too.  Poor old Mr J and P is currently at home, in between jobs, and I keep getting emails from him saying "It's like the fall of Berlin here" and "news from the bunker....." and "Oh God, there's a builders' convention right outside our house."

The only thing that is keeping me and Mr J and P sane(ish) is our nightly dose of Breaking Bad (just finished season 2 fyi).

See you on the other side... xx

  4. It's nice to see, amidst the chaos, that beautiful bunch of red gladdies on your coffee table. I hate those kind of jobs that have to be done, cost loads, but don't really make your life any better (or prettier) Hang-in-there Loo and co x

  5. Just awful Loo, I totally sympathise ... but I see you've got your priorities right and amidst all the chaos, still have a lovely vase of flowers! You'll get there soon, and it will all have been worth it ...

  6. Poor you, it will soon be forgotten once the builders have gone and you get back to normality. I hate it when everywhere's in chaos...that's why I'm putting off decorating, when I know I should bite the bullet and get on with it. xx

  10. BB will keep you sane ... just. We have a feck-off mansion flying up into the heavens next door ... an opus for four people! Good grief! Sometimes I want to throw molotov cocktails at all the wooden frames that are going up outside our kitchen window. Oh just don't take a crap in the dunny K? xxxxx

  15. oh poor you! So frustrating when it's all down to damp! Mightn't look very different when they're finished but you'll have peace of mind, no more of those heart-sinking signs that all is not well behind the paint and the plaster... xx

  16. When Jenny was very little I took her to Disneyland Paris. It was the first time we'd been away on our own and I was quite nervous. We landed in Paris and it was chucking down. We found our bustop to get to Disneyland and we sat on our cases and waited and waited...One and a half hours later our bus came. By then we had invented a new song called 'It'll All be Worth It When We Get There' and it was. xxxx

  17. Oh God! That's horrible. You have my every sympathy. It's horrible having workmen in your home. There's nowhere to go for any privacy, and as for spending money on things like DPCs, that's the pits! Just remember, the war ended eventually! xxxx

  18. If it's any consolation Phil has gutted the downstairs bathroom-let's hope he progresses more quickly than the upstairs one!!!

  19. Looks like a horrid time for you with all that upheaval. I hope things settle and get sorted soon. I suppose it's one of those jobs that has just got to be done.
