Well, hello dear readers, I've only gone and finished my vintage sheet patchwork duvet cover. I know! I'm feeling very pleased with myself.
Even my wonky and odd looking crocheted cushions look ok next to the duvet cover |
It was a pleasure to do actually.
Cutting out the squares - took ages though.
Deciding which square should go with what was the best bit. I'm thinking that you can't go wrong with a vintage sheet; they just look so fabulous together.
It was a bit unwieldy to work with at times. After all, it is a kingsize duvet, so lots of material to grapple with. I got there in the end though.
This is the other side - a whole pristine vintage sheet.
I love my patchwork duvet cover lots and lots.
I purposely nip into the bedroom at every opportunity just to gaze at it in wonder........
Sometimes, I find myself caressing each and every square and, believe you me, that takes a long old while......
And the patchwork doesn't stop there! I'm already cutting up squares for my next patchwork project plus I just whipped up this patchwork little number (literally) for a Little Miss' birthday:
I'm a patchwork making crazy thing. Or maybe just crazy.......xx
Wow - it is wonderful, no wonder you keep looking at it! Even more special because you made it yourself! Fabulous.

ReplyDeleteThat looks so fab! I am wanting to do something similar but as I have never tried any quilting before, wonder if it's a little ambitious for a first project!
ReplyDeleteLoo it's fabulous! So bright and cheerful! You've got me tempted to chop up my little stash now ... if only I could bring myself to actually do it... xx

ReplyDeleteI’ve nominated you on my blog for a “Liebster” award – an award for blogs I like to visit. There are (aren’t there always?!) particular rules that one is supposed to follow...However, I do appreciate that many bloggers find such things a bit tedious, or not actually what they blog for. So, if it doesn’t float you boat, no worries. Just be happy that I’ve (hopefully) sent others to look at your blog and enjoy it as much as I do. If you do want to join in, then hop over to my blog to find out the “rules”.

Now that was well worth the wait! I don't blame you feeling pleased with yourself as its a stunner! I was looking through the photos and recognising the patterns...good old polycotton eh?! Good idea to back it with a big sheet too xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love it. I've had plans to make one of those myself for a-g-e-s and having seen how wonderful your's looks, I really must get my a*se into gear and get cracking.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely, you must be very proud! I have some patchwork I started nearly 3 years ago that's still not finished!
ReplyDeleteI had the duvet cover exactly the same as the back of this quilt years ago, maybe in the 70's, that ages me a bit. lol
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of using vintage quilts and sheets but here in Brighton the charity shops are asking and arm and a leg for them.

Wow, it looks brilliant! I would definitely be the same as you and be sneaking in on any pretext for a bit of admiration. Well done!

Everytime I see something as gorgeous as this I shout look, look I need a walking foot.
ReplyDeleteWell done you, it looks fab xx
ReplyDeleteI'm new to quilting, and planning to make a "rag quilt" out of flanellette. My sister-in-law was horrified to learn I was tearing it into squares rather than cutting. Doesn't that make sense, that it tears perfectly on the grain? And for a rag quilt, you chop the edges anyway to make them fray.
ReplyDeleteCan I hear from some of you pros - what's wrong with this? Thanks.
Nan - Toronto, Canada
Love it! You patchworking gals must have more patience than I can ever imagine having. You should be proud of your effort and achievement!! M x
