A floral frenzy

A floral theme today, dear readers.  The lovely Sarah from Modern Country Style is having a garden party today and has invited fellow bloggers to post their pics of flowers.

Sadly, there is not one real flower to be had at J and P Towers today (very remiss of Mr J and P not to buy me any).  So, instead, this is what I've found:

Lovely Rosali duvet cover from Ikea.  Scrummy, n'est pas?

I love this painting in our bedroom.  It's entitled La Fenetre a La Goulette by Albert Marquet.  I like to lie in bed gazing at it and imagining that it is really the view out of our bedroom window.  Sigh.........

More roses, this time on a Cath Kidston oil cloth adorning our dining table:

A sketch of a lily by Little Miss J and P:

Another flower daubing by Little Miss J and P when she was very little:

A detail of a vintage silk scarf which I've made into a ....you guessed it......a cushion cover:

Flowers on a tea cup.  It's a Midwinter and the design is "Sunglow":

Flowers on a vase.  It's New Devon pottery (50p from a jumble sale):

Flower fairy lights adorning our mirror in the hall:

Beautiful pics of roses from The Concise Handbook of Roses published in 1966.  Another jumble sale buy.

Even more roses.  Great Grandmama J and P (aka Gladys) was a dab hand at painting flowers.  Roses were her speciality.

Not bad eh for someone who took up painting in her sixties!

Another tray to add to the collection:

Why don't you pop over to Sarah's and feast your eyes on some more floral delights!

  2. Well, if you can't have an actual garden, then a bower of printed and painted flora is just about the next best thing. Visiting from Sarah's linky...love your blog. Off to nose around.

  4. Who needs real flowers when there are so many other beauties right here? I especially like all your artwork. Great Grandma J&P was really talented.

ps - LOVE that tray! What a glorious pattern.

  5. Wow - your your grabdmother was a fantastic artist. Those paintings could be straight out of a book.

Just had a funny thought that you could have switched over the two paintings by your grandmother and the 'daubings' of your daughter when she was little - and leave us all marvelling at her genius skills and the misguided notions of your grandmother!!!!!

Well, it was funny in my head, anyway! In fact, I'm chuckling aloud to myself. Always worrying!

I love the flowericiousness that you linked up. I'm REALLY pleased you could make it, gorgeous girlie.

Is the duvet cover a recent buy? I love the fabric and have been looking for something similar for ages. I hope you don't mind me asking.

  12. Lots of lovely flowers! I'm very jealous that you have rosali bedding. Your comment really made me chuckle...I think a cat might be easier to get from under floorboards than a hamster!! Thanks for the map love too - I got it from a car boot last year and I think it's one of my favourite things. Once we've decorated the office I'll paint the frame a different colour x

  13. So many wonderful florals. I really like your lamps that I can spy by the bed, very pretty. Little Miss J & P's lily picture is beautiful, what a talented wee thing.
And the lights around the mirror are sweet.

  15. I love that IKEA duvet; I don't think they sell it anymore, right? I almost got one several years ago out of the clearance bin, but wasn't sure where I'd use it, so I passed it up :(
    Grandma was an amazing artist!
Thanks for all the flowery goodness!
